A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder.

Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone-one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship-tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.
Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.

Kayla: What do you like about writing Young Adult Novels?

Beth: I love everything. There is nothing else in the world I'd rather do. Writing YA books is so rewarding from start to finish--creating the story (YA books are just more fun and exciting, so this might be the best part), editing it to make it as perfect as possible, and then releasing it to the wild. Hearing from readers is amazing. AH! I just love it all!

Kayla: How was the release date of A Million Suns different from the release date of Across the Universe?

Beth: I think the only real difference is that I knew a little more about what to expect. I was still a total bundle of nerves, totally scared to look at the response online, totally worried that no one would come to the launch event! And I still ate cupcakes in celebration :)

Kayla: What inspired the "space" setting for both of your books?

Beth: Originally, I thought of putting the mystery of the first book on a cruise ship. But spaceships are much cooler than cruise ships. Once I had the idea of cryogenic freezing, I knew the story would be sci fi. And I've always loved stars.

Kayla: When writing, would you rather write on a computer or by hand?

Beth: I do at least 90% of my writing on computer. But whenever I get stuck or need to brainstorm, I totally use a legal pad and pen.

Kayla: Are you more of a e-book or physical book person?

Beth: It totally depends on the book! There are some books that I know I want to treasure forever, and those are print for me. And I collect signed books as a hobby. But I read much faster on my e-reader, and sometimes can't resist the instant purchase of them.

Kayla: When did you first start writing?

Beth: I always loved stories, but I think my first true attempt at writing happened in fifth grade. It was a story about a unicorn and the girl who discovers it. Each page was a new "chapter" and I would read it on the school bus to my friends.

Kayla: How was it trying to get your first novel "Across the Universe" published?

Beth: It was a really long process--I'd written for a decade prior to this, worried that I would never get published. I did a vlog on the topic, actually, which you can find here: http://writeoncon.com/2011/08/dont-give-up-by-author-beth-revis/
