Zoraida: Meeting tons of great writers. I love the Apocalypsies (2012 debut writers) and everyone I've met at conferences this past year.
Kayla: What was the process of deciding on the cover for The Vicious Deep?

Zoraida: As a writer, they really just present you with a cover. From what I gather, lots of meeting between departments until they decide what is best for the book.

Kayla: What inspired you to write about Mermaids?
Kayla: What inspired you to write about Mermaids?
Zoraida: They are such an untapped mythological creature. I wanted to write my own version.
Kayla: What is a day in the life of Zoraida Cordova like?
Zoraida: Lately, I wake up and check my email. I first delete all the spam. *censor the bathroom scene* Then I put on my sneakers and go to the gym. Breakfast, then real email answering. If I don't have to go to work, I write, run some errands, catch up on TV, meet friends for drinks. Basil Hayden's neat. Walk around Central Park. Daydream. Google myself.
Wow. I sound dreadfully dull.
Kayla: What are your future goals?
Zoraida: I want to write many many books. I want to go to Greece, Ireland, Denmark, Australia. I want to go visit Ecuador again. I want to paint something the size of my wall. Maybe fall in love (it hasn't happened yet). Spend a whole summer at the beach. Spend the fall in Montana. Or, Salem, Massachusetts with a lobster martini.
Kayla: What has your experience with bloggers been like?
Zoraida: I love you guys! For serious :)
Kayla: I must ask this question, are you a dog or a cat person? (As you can tell I'm a major cat person... so I just had to ask :)
Zoraida: Cats! But I love wolf looking dogs. They're so beautiful.
