My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Blurb:

Brie's life ends at sixteen: Her boyfriend tells her he doesn't love her, and the news breaks her heart - "literally." But now that she's in heaven, Brie is about to discover that love is way more complicated than she ever imagined. Back in Half Moon Bay, her family has begun to unravel. Her best friend knows a secret about Jacob, the boy she loved and lost - and the truth behind his shattering betrayal. And then there's Patrick, Brie's mysterious new guide and resident Lost Soul who's been D&G (dead and gone) much longer than she? and who just might hold the key to her forever after. With Patrick's help, Brie will have to pass through the five stages of grief before she's ready to move on? but how do you begin again, when your heart is still in pieces?

My Review:
This book started out and captured me with all of the song names as chapter names, I loved that.

The characters were great, all with complicated situations that worked themselves out in the end. This book felt it went by so fast, I knew that I had been reading it but when I looked at the page number I just though *It's going by too fast* This story will make you cry because you are so in tune with the characters that you feel what they feel. Many times when there was a sad part that came up in this book I'd have to go in my room and cry because I didn't want anybody to know I was lol. I laughed a lot in this book, and the end left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

Brie is a normal teenager with a great family and a boyfriend who she thinks is her whole world. She has 3 amazing best friends, and is the star diver of the swimming team. I love Brie's character she is so funny, self-conscious, and ridiculous sometimes; which just about sums up a teenager. When Jacob breaks up with her she dies of a literal heart break and ends up in the place between Heaven and Hell to work out her problems before she moves on.

All of the characters were great Brie, Brie's Mom & Dad, Emma, Sadie, Tess, Jacob, Jack, and Patrick (who was my favorite aside from Brie), and who could forget Hamloaf; this dog is one of the best things in this story (: You just have to read to understand.

I liked reading all that Brie went through all the way from Denial to Acceptance. This author has such a way of writing that makes you feel a certain way that I really can't explain; but it's a good feeling. There are twists and turns in this book, ups and downs just like we go through in real life. The world was very different and original, and I really liked that. I would recommend you read this book, I know I will be looking out for Jess Rothenberg's future books.
